Linfield Contemporary Music Ensemble
The Linfield Collaborative Music Ensemble (LCME) is a collective of exceptional faculty, student and alumni musicians. They elevate the music of Linfield University-affiliated composers by bridging relationships with local and global audiences through exemplary performance. LCME creates an inclusive artistic space that fosters intergenerational mentorship and musical exploration, sustaining relevant, modern musicianship within the McMinnville community.
With a flexible instrumentation that retains intimacy and excellence, LCME centers around the “Pierrot plus percussion” instrumentation with various combinations of flute, clarinet, violin, cello, piano and percussion, offering endless sonic fascination. LCME specializes in contemporary art music and is equally dedicated to commissioning, performing and recording new music by Linfield composers, enlivening the genre with fresh repertoire, bringing the music forward to the public and documenting valuable work for posterity.
LCME is the recipient of national finalist nominations for:
- The American Prize in Chamber Music Performance (2024)
- The American Prize Ernst Bacon Memorial Award for the Performance of American Music, Chamber Ensemble Division (2024)
Founded and directed by the highly acclaimed percussionist and educator Florian Conzetti, LCME as a whole reflects Conzetti’s interest in how traditional and vernacular musical styles from around the world intersect and inform modern experiences of performance, interpretation, and listening. The group remains dedicated to delivering the highest level of performance while exploring beyond the notes on the page. The result is a uniquely educational and integrated approach to concertizing and recording that embraces global influence while positioning this special subset of Oregon composers - grounded in the especially lush, nature-focused, and open-minded region of the Willamette Valley - within the music industry at large.
