Do you love to sing?

There is a place for you in Linfield’s choir program!

Our vocal/choral ensembles offer a range of repertoire and musical experiences for ALL students, regardless of major or minor, bringing together musicians from virtually every academic discipline on campus. We encourage you to continue singing at Linfield!

Non-auditioned choirs include Cascara Voce, Wildcat Men’s Glee Club, and Jazz Choir. All are welcome!

Auditions for participation in the 2021-22 Concert Choir will take place during New Student Orientation week.

About Concert Choir (MUSC 117)

By audition. One credit.

Monday, 4:15 - 5:05 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday, 11:50 a.m. - 12:50 p.m.; Friday, 12:00 - 1:10 p.m.

The Concert Choir is the premier choral organization for all qualified singers at Linfield. This select group of 25-35 voices performs traditional choral repertoire, as well as diverse and contemporary works in a variety of styles. The choir has toured nearly every year since its formation in 1930, with performances throughout the western states, Canada, Europe, New Zealand, Australia, China and Southeast Asia. Recent tours include:

  • Costa Rica in 2013
  • Hawaii in 2015
  • San Francisco in 2016
  • Austin, Texas in 2017
  • Los Angeles in 2018
  • Washington in 2020

The choir performs four to six concerts per year, including an annual concert with chamber orchestra. Recent performances featured:

  • The Faure Requiem
  • Schubert’s Mass in G
  • Bach’s Magnificat
  • Kodaly’s Te Deum
  • Fern Hill by John Corigliano
  • Duruflé Requiem
  • Haydn’s Missa Sancti Nicolai
  • Bernstein's Chichester Psalms

The choir also focuses on community service. Outreach activities in the community include the annual McMinnville Community Choir Celebration and a Choir Clinic for area elementary and middle school students in April of each year.

Wildcat Men's Glee Club (MUSC 108)

No audition required. One credit.

Monday, 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.

Wildcat Men’s Glee Club performs a variety of musical styles written for male voices including traditional, world music, film and stage songs, and popular music, all with a focus on healthy singing technique and ensemble musicianship. Collaborates with Cascara Voce or Concert Choir at least once a year to sing SATB repertoire.

Open to all students, staff, and faculty on campus; no audition required. Full-year commitment in ensemble is recommended.

Cascara Voce (MUSC 109)

No audition required. One credit.

Tuesday and Thursday, 2:45 - 3:45 p.m.

Open to all treble voices on campus. Cascara Voce performs a variety of musical styles for treble voices including traditional, world music, film and stage songs, and popular music, all with a focus on healthy singing technique and ensemble musicianship. Collaborates with Wildcat Men’s Glee Club or Concert Choir at least once a year.

Open to all students, staff, and faculty on campus; no audition required. Full-year commitment in ensemble is recommended.

Jazz Choir (MUSC 111)

No audition required. One credit.

Monday and Wednesday, 4 - 5:15 p.m.

A one-to-a-mic vocal group with rhythm section. Sings a variety of styles, including jazz standards and jazz arrangements of contemporary music.

Full-year commitment in ensemble is recommended.
