In Spanish language and culture at Linfield, you will develop strong communication skills, cultural understanding and global awareness that prepare you for careers in healthcare, education, business, international service and more. You can pursue a major, minor or certificate in Spanish — including an advanced certificate in medical Spanish — as well as the Latinx studies minor, which focuses on the histories, cultures and social contexts of Latin America and Spanish‑speaking communities in the United States. Through small classes, close faculty mentorship, immersive learning and recognized proficiency assessments, you will graduate with the confidence and credentials to thrive in multilingual environments.

What You Can Expect

Personalized learning

Learn in small classes where faculty know your name and support your growth through individualized instruction and recognized proficiency assessments such as OPI, IDI and STAMP 4S.

Global immersion

Study abroad in Ecuador or Spain for a semester or full year, live with a host family, take classes at local universities and complete internships with community organizations.

Practice Spanish daily with on‑campus Language Teaching Assistants from Spain who lead conversation sessions, cultural events and immersive activities that build authentic communication skills.
