Joseph Hunter

Vice President for University Advancement

Joseph Hunter joined Linfield University in January 2020 as vice president for university advancement. He is responsible for designing and implementing comprehensive university advancement programs and serves as one of the seven members of the President’s Leadership Team.

Hunter has served in higher education advancement for 20 years, and most recently as the assistant vice chancellor of development at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. Prior to Vanderbilt, he helped lead or contribute to successful fundraising campaigns at Wichita State University, Western Washington University, University of Oregon and the University of Wyoming.

A native of Dayton, Ohio, Hunter earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Dayton and holds two master’s degrees from Virginia Tech. He and his wife, Sarah, and their two children, now call the McMinnville area home.
