As you prepare for the upcoming academic year, please take note of the following important financial aid steps to ensure your funding is in place:

    1. Review and Accept Your Financial Aid Offer

Log in to your Self-Service account and navigate to the “Review and accept your Financial Aid Award Package” section.

    2. Report Private Scholarships

If you have been awarded a private scholarship, please email the Office of Financial Aid at finaid@linfield.edu with the name and amount of the scholarship for the 2025–26 academic year. Linfield University will not adjust your financial aid package if you receive a private scholarship unless federal aid guidelines require an adjustment. In such cases, federal loans and work-study would be reduced before any other aid is adjusted.

    3. Complete Stafford Loan Requirements - These steps are mandatory for all first-time borrowers.

If you have accepted any Federal Direct Stafford Loans (subsidized or unsubsidized), you must complete the following requirements at www.studentaid.gov:

    • Entrance Counseling
    • Master Promissory Note (MPN)

    4. Explore Additional Loan Options

If you need a loan to cover your remaining balance, you have the following options:

    • Federal Parent PLUS Loan: Available to creditworthy parents of dependent students.
    • Private (Alternative) Education Loan: Offered by private lenders, often requiring a creditworthy co-signer.

For more information on these loan options, please visit the Student and Parent Loans page.

    5. Stay Informed and Reach Out

Remember, the Office of Financial Aid is here to support you. If you have any questions or need assistance, don't hesitate to contact us at finaid@linfield.edu or call 503-883-2225. Our summer office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Pacific Time).

    Warm regards,

    The Office of Financial Aid

    Linfield University

We are eagerly making plans for your arrival this August and now we need to hear from you.
It is time to submit your Arrival and Pre-Orientation Survey to let us know when you will be arriving to campus. Students arrive early for a variety of reasons: participating in a fall sport, being a first generation student or being required to attend the Summer Academy. Arriving early is a great way to kick off your Linfield experience. You'll move into your residence hall room and spend the week engaging with faculty and staff completing on-campus projects and taking off-campus trips.

Fall athletes (cross country, soccer, football, women's volleyball, athletic band, cheer or dance) will be required to arrive on campus early and you will soon hear more from your coaches. If you plan to participate in one of these sports, be sure to indicate your sport on this form.

All other students are invited to join us for one of our Pre-Orientation Programs. Please carefully review the Pre-Orientation options here https://www.linfield.edu/orientation/programs.html.

Submit Your Arrival Survey in your Portal

Recipients of the Linfield First Gen Scholarship are required to participate in an early arrival program and there is no fee to register. If you won't arrive early for a fall sport or activity, you can choose from one of the Pre-Orientation Programs.

Those who are required to attend the Linfield Summer Academy (as a provision to their admission) need to plan on arriving to the McMinnville campus on August 4. It is expected that students will return home at the conclusion of the Academy program. Students travelling from afar may be granted an exemption and will be allowed to stay on campus after the Academy concludes. If you plan to remain on campus after the conclusion of the Academy, we encourage you to register for a second pre-orientation program for the week of August 15-20.

With the exception of the Summer Academy (August 4-8), each program begins on Friday, August 15. For those who are not a Linfield First Gen Scholarship recipient, there is a $100 participation fee. Space is limited and registration is open now until June 30.

    Important Reminders:

  • 5/7 - Linfield Enrolling Student E-Newsletter 3: Preparing for Registration

Happy May! Your life is likely pretty hectic as you complete your final weeks of high school. Here are a few important reminders to help you stay on track during this busy time.

Planning your Fall Schedule: One of the most important and timely steps all students need to take is to register for fall classes. The Registration window for new students will open in late June, but students can start the planning process now.

As mentioned in the Newsletter #1, students should set up their Catnet student ID account and complete their Advising Profile in the Admissions Portal. Once a student completes the advising profile, staff advisors will consider the student’s responses, areas of interest, and transcript information, to create fall schedule recommendations for each student. These recommendations will be sent to personal and Linfield email addresses in May and June and will be titled “Plan Your Fall Schedule”. The message will also include the students’ Registration & Orientation Leader (ROL), a peer mentor, to help guide them through the class planning and registration processes.

To view all steps in the registration and planning process, please check out our New Fall 2025 Incoming Students page on Advising Central.

Measles, Mumps & Rubella (MMR) Vaccine: Oregon Law requires all entering full-time university students born after January 1, 1957 to show that they have received two doses of measles vaccine prior to the second term of enrollment. Because of the highly infections nature of the measles virus, Linfield University requires ALL students to provide documentation of vaccination using the electronic MMR form in Etrieve. Documentation of measles vaccination is required in order to register for classes and apply for university housing. Required documentation includes the month, day and year of each dose, with the first dose given on or after the 1-year birthday, and the second dose at least 24 days after the first.

For students who are attending the institution on a student visa, documentation of measles vaccination must be provided prior to the student attending classes. If the student’s first dose of measles vaccine was received less than 30 days prior to attendance, the student has until the beginning of the second semester to provide documentation of the second dose.

The Etrieve form provides additional information related to documentation of immunity and allowable exemptions. Students who have questions about where to find their MMR vaccination information, or where to get the vaccine prior to arrival at Linfield, should contact their primary care physician. Vaccine information can also be found of state vaccine registry websites. Questions about the form can be sent to AskStudentAffairs@linfield.edu.
