Maria Martin Avi Visiting Teaching Assistant

Walker Hall
María was born and raised in Alicante, Spain, a multicultural and linguistically diverse city. Since she was a child, she has loved learning new languages and getting to know new cultures. For that reason, she decided to study translation and interpreting at the University of Alicante, where she had the opportunity to learn English, French and Arabic.
Later on, she discovered her passion for teaching and sharing her knowledge of her language and culture with others, while learning about new cultures. She continued her studies with a master's degree in English language teaching and, later, a master's degree in teaching Spanish as a foreign language.
She has had the opportunity to work as a Spanish teacher at the University of Alicante and in prestigious institutions such as Instituto Cervantes in Cairo, Egypt. Furthermore, she is also beginning her path as a researcher and a future Ph.D. student, delving into the study of the psychology of language learning and teaching, specifically Spanish.
For her, teaching is not a job, it is a passion, and being at Linfield is a good opportunity not only to teach but also to learn about the students' cultures.
