Dr. Hutson entered nursing as a 3rd career and found the perfect fit. He discovered his passion for teaching after being given an opportunity to create and lead a multi-patient simulation experience while pursuing his associate degree in nursing. Prior to joining Linfield, he was faculty at Texas Christian Univerisity and Clackamas Community College. Dr. Hutson has a passion for helping learners develop critical thinking and clinical judgment skills through various modalities, including simulation.

Academic Interests

Dr. Hutson's research interests include measuring cognitive load under conditions of varying complexity and using these data to inform instructional design in both simulation and traditional classroom settings.
