Linfield students make a gift to the community

This year Linfield student volunteers spent 52,000 hours in the community, offering the gift of service.

“Community engagement is a cornerstone of a Linfield College education,” said Jessica Wade, director of Community Engagement and Service. “Linfield students meet important community needs while applying concepts learned in the classroom.”

More than 900 students joined the effort. Their primary focus was housing and food security, at-risk youth and educational equality, and environmental sustainability.

This year the Washington Monthly named Linfield one of the top 100 contributors to the public good.

Linfield was also named to the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll in 2008, 2009 and 2010.
