  • 1950-1969

    Bob Lunt ’52 of McMinnville celebrated his 70th wedding anniversary to wife Donna on July 5, 2024.

    Dennis Ludwig ’66 of Eugene was recognized on May 31 by the Oregon Coaches Association this year for 60 years of coaching. He has been coaching at Sheldon High School in Eugene for the past 56 years and will be coaching again this fall for his 57 year at Sheldon and 61 overall.

    Jim Johnson ’68 of Keaau, Hawaii, has sailed back to the Solomon Islands after a year in Micronesia. He has been on this voyage from Hawaii for eight years on a steel ketch that he designed, built and launched 30 years ago in Oregon City. His oldest son Morgan (who was born in Tahiti) joined him for six months this year and his daughter Jessica (who was born in Papua New Guinea) joined him for a visit in September.

    Shirley (Niemuth) Lane ’69 of Richland, Washington, and her husband Tom Lane ’69 continue to live on their homestead in northern Wisconsin, this being six years now. They have two new vehicles driving grandchildren and two more! They are retired and living the good life!

  • 1970-1979

    Harold Tu ’71 of Omaha, Nebraska, was a finalist at the 2024 UTSA League National Invitational. He competed at the Adult 65 and Over 70 National Inivational held in Arizona in January.

    Scott Lamb ’74 of Green Valley, Arizona, went to Ukraine twice on humanitarian mission work. On the first trip, he entered Lviv Ukraine 33 days after the war started and helped feed war refugees. Eventually through an English speaking local Rotary Club worked in supplying first aid kits to the army and hospital supplies to hospitals on the eastern front. He spent a total of five months in Ukraine.

    John Axtell ’75 of Chadron, Nebraska, retired in June after more than 50 years in the radio business.

    Kirk Bales ’79 of McMinnville was recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives in June for dedication, achievements and leadership in real estate and land development.

  • 1980-1989

    Carmil (White) Ritchey ’80 of Gresham retired this year after a 44 year career in the insurance industry.

    Chris Casey ’82 of Aloha retired after 43 football seasons, including 11 as head coach, from George Fox University.

    Ben Gutierrez ’83 of Honolulu, Hawaii, is now the weekend news and weather anchor at Hawai'i News Now (KGMB/KHNL) and was recently appointed to the Board of Directors of Hawai'i Youth Symphony, a statewide non-profit music education program.

    Ava (Maliner) Philippus ’83 of Aurora, Colorado, purchased a Honda Goldwing touring motorcycle and hopes to start exploring the country in 2026 as a retirement project. In other news, our son Daniel is about to graduate with his Ph.D in hydrology from the Colorado School of Mines!

    Tricia Evans ’84 of Kahului, Hawaii, was named among the Top 50 Women Leaders of Hawaii for 2024 by Women We Admire. She is the owner and president of Westaff Hawaii.

    Jon Tromblay ’85 of Newberg was inducted into the Amity High School Hall of Fame.

    Randy Hayes ’86 of McMinnville, was awarded the USATF Coach of the Year for his work with the Amity High School track and field program.

    Mark Kendall ’86 of Salem is now President of the League of Women Voters beginning September 2025.

    Jeff Brooks ’87 of Washougal, Washington, a former men’s soccer player, was inducted into the Linfield Athletics Hall of Fame in October 2024.

    Yolanda Vanveen ’88 of Burnsville, Minnesota, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Yolanda is a distinguished American expert in sustainable gardening. She currently holds the title of digital creative director of Garden Naturally Group, where since 2011 she has cultivated a global following through her online digital platform.

    Karen (Reynolds) Jenkins ’90 of Bend and husband Mike Jenkins '90 launched a new business, Deschutes Homebase, LLC - Mid-Term Rentals, specializing in providing fully furnished homes for tenants looking to enjoy Bend for a term of 30 days to one year.

    Julie Ryan ’90 of Coos Bay began as the EMS program director and assistant professor of paramedicine at Southwestern Oregon Community College in August 2024.

    Rich Slack ’90 of Dallas was elected Mayor of Dallas, Oregon.

    Theresa (Stichick) Betancourt ’91 of Cambridge, Massachusetts, recently published a book, Shadows into Light, about her two decades of research following the lives of children (now adults) who returned home after being forced to fight in the civil war that ravaged Sierra Leone.

    Keith Mays ’91 of Sherwood received the Mark O. Hatfield Statesmanship Award presented to a deserving “statesman” who has provided lasting benefits to the quality of life for Oregon citizens.

    Corey Oliver ’91 of Saint Helens retired after 43 years with Safeway stores Inc, most recently as I.T. Manager for the Portland Division.

    Kevin Snyder ’91 of Chandler, Arizona, began as development services director for the City of Chandler, Arizona, in August 2024.

    Sharon Boyle ’93 of Terre Haute, Indiana, after receiving her D.H.Sc. (Doctorate in Health Sciences) in May 2023, she started a new position as Director of Arts in Health and Associate Professor of Music Therapy at Ohio University in Aug 2023.

    C.B. (Wyss) Mason ’94 of McMinnville recently published her first book, a young adult novel called Shattered. It is the first in a three-part series.

    Joe Dominey ’95 of Laredo, Texas, rode all 21 stages of the Tour de France route, just one week ahead of the professionals, while raising crucial funds to support Cure Leukaemia.

    Lucetta (Johnson) Elmer ’95 of McMinnville was named as the Oregon House Republican Leader on Oct. 1.

    Brandie Holly ’95 of Meridian, Idaho, was named one of the Top 50 Women Leaders of Idaho by Women We Admire.

    Janin (Eichelberg) McGrath ’95 of Royse City, Texas, joined the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas as an assistant vice president in the Treasury Services Department.

    JP Green ’96 of Boise, Idaho, was named partner with TOK Commercial Real Estate in January 2025.

    Erik McLaughlin ’96 of Walla Walla, Washington, was recognized as one of the 2025 Wine Industry Leaders by Wine Business Monthly.

    Derrin Broome ’97 of Bennington, Kansas, was hired as assistant professor of criminal justice at Kansas Wesleyan University.

    Brian Hodson ’97 of Canby was re-elected Mayor of the city of Canby for his 7th consecutive term. This ties him as the longest serving Mayor in Canby's history.

    Susie Kuhn ’97 of Grand Rapids, Michigan, has been named the President Active Group at Wolverine Worldwide, Inc. in Grand Rapids, MI. In the role she will oversee a portfolio of Footwear brands including Merrell, Saucony & Chacos.

    Emily (Baker) Chadwick ’98 of Carlton was hired as principal of Nestucca High School.

    Jessica (Buell) Jensen ’98 of Portland launched her own company, Co-pilot Communications. They team up with C-suite leaders and founders to create powerful digital platforms that truly reflect their vision and modernize their communication strategy to share their story in a way that inspires and adds value.

    Ty Naugle '98 of Portland married Heidi Westerhis on Sept. 14.

    Tramaine Payne ’98 of McMinnville was selected as McMinnville's Educator of the Year for the work he does at Patton Middle School.

    Karen (Churchill) Garcia ’99 of Yuba City, California, is the founder and CEO of marketing agency Lab6 Media, and was a finalist for the 2024 AFFY Legend Award and last spring she was a guest lecturer at Northwestern University Medill School of Business in Chicago. Her company was also recently recognized as one of the Top 30 Affiliate Agencies worldwide by Hello Partner.

    Tony Hanna ’99 of Ormond Beach, Florida, and his family moved from north Idaho to Ormand Beach, Florida, in August 2024. He and his wife Willow, both realtors, plan to get their Florida realty licenses.

    Mike Lord ’99 of Oregon City started as Molalla High School's Assistant Principal and Athletic Director as of July 1, 2024.

    Brian Gustafson ’00 of Vancouver, Washington, accepted a position as a Patent Partner with Haynes and Boone LLP.

    Melody Sherman ’00 of Santa Clarita, California, a former track and field athlete, was inducted into the Linfield Athletics Hall of Fame in October 2024.

    Andrew Brawley ’01 of Beaverton was promoted to Associate Director of Client Experience for Movable Ink.

    Shane McCrae ’02 of New York, New York, collaborated with composer Michael Hersch on a new, two-act opera titled “and we, each.” Performances are scheduled throughout the fall in Baltimore, Washington, D.C. and Brooklyn.

    Jim McCary ’03 of Seattle, Washington, started a new job as Senior Vice President, Commercial Credit, for Bank of America in Seattle.

    Brandon Standridge ’03 of Coos Bay earned the distinction of being a Certified Master Athletic Administrator (CMAA) from the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrations Association

    Amy (Hintz) Fairchild ’04 of Joseph released a new holiday album in 2024, featuring vocals from her family and five original songs.

    Thomas Ford ’04 of Moscow, ID, was named head football coach of the University of Idaho.

    Alma (Sproul) Mattocks ’04 of Morgantown, West Virginia, has taken the role of Chair for the Division of Athletic Training at West Virginia University.

    Jim Michael ’04 of Ellensburg, Washington, was selected as the new Director of Agribusiness at Central Washington University.

    Kyle Stuart ’04 of Portland was promoted to Vice President of Marketing at Columbia River Knife & Tool.

    Patience (Churchward) Stuart ’04 of Portland was promoted to Deputy Department Manager at AECOM.

    Brett Elliott ’05 of West Linn was hired as the Head Football Coach for Lewis & Clark College.

    Adam Howard ’07 of McMinnville was named the Oregon 6A Coach of the Year for soccer.

    Jason Little ’07 of Portland has a new role as Principal at Gallatin Public Affairs.

    Patrick Miller ’07 of Camarillo, California, began as the director of assessment, research and evaluation for the Santa Monica-Malibu Unifed School District in June 2024.

    Danni (Minch) Sloane ’07 of Welches, received her DNP in 2023 and just accepted a position as an Associate Chief Nurse Executive at a Kaiser Sunnyside in Oregon.

    Kara Bonham ’08 of Portland graduated with a Masters degree in Human Nutrition and Functional Medicine from University of Western States and moved from Colorado to Arizona to attend nursing school at the University of Arizona. where she graduated with a BSN in August 2023 before moving to Portland to work as a nurse in the emergency department at the Portland VA Medical Center.

    Aaron Larsen ’08 of Roseburg successfully launched the book "Grandchild, From My Heart to Yours," which is now available on Amazon.

    Amber (Saxbury) Toomey ’08 of Astoria started as a certified family nurse practioner for the Columbia Memorial Hospital-Oregon Health & Science University Health Primary Care Clinic in Seaside in June 2024.

    Araceli (Ortiz) Cruz ’09 of Beaverton, recently published a children's book called Gael & Sofia's Big College adventure. now available for purchase.

    Lacey (Peck) Lockhart ’09 of Sherwood and husband Bo Lockhart '06 welcomed their second child, Rip Russell Lockhart, on August 7, 2023.

    Jeff Olson ’09 of Ankeny, Iowa, started as the primary provider at Loring Hospital’s podiatry specialty clinic in November 2024.

    Joe Locascio ’10 of Portland is the head coach of the boys soccer team at Wells High School. He previously coached at Summit High School in Bend during the 2021 and 2022 seasons.

    Nicolle (Skarmas) Renfro ’10 of West Linn married Chris Renfro ’09 on Aug 31, 2024.

    Reed Standlee ’10 of Fircrest, Washington, and his wife Jennifer welcomed their first baby and daughter, Eve, on July 3, 2024.

    Evan Hilberg ’10 of Philomath founded a nonprofit called Service in Sports, dedicated to creating scholarship opportunities for youth athletes through engagement in community service.

    Jessica Learn '10 of San Francisco, California, and her husband John Williams, welcomed a son Graham Henry Learn-Williams on Sept. 5.

    Jesse Aerni ’11 of Littleton, Colorado became the Director of Finance and Operations for the Montessori School of Denver in June.

    Kate (Franklin) Kitchell ’11 of Ashland was named one of the Top 50 Women Chief Nursing Officers of 2024 by Women We Admire.

    Alex Grant ’12 of Amity, received the Oregon State Sheriff Association's Valor Award.

    Suzanna Sumkhuu ’14 of Ulaanbaatar Hot, Mongolia, completed her Master of Public Affairs, focusing on energy and environmental economics and policy, at Indiana University Bloomington’s O'Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs as a Fulbright Scholar.

    Brandon Harris ’15 of McMinnville received the Mercy award at Willamette Valley Medical Center. The Mercy award is the highest honor given in a hospital or healthcare organization. It is given to those who demonstrate Compassion, Kindness, Empathy and embody the core values of the hospital integrity and service of excellence.

    Julian Adoff ’16 of Chicago, Illinois, currently a Ph.D candidate at the University of Illinois, Chicago, has been awarded a twelve-month Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad Fellowship in support of his research in the Czech Republic and Poland.

    Hanna Menzel ’16 of Beaverton, welcomed her first child, Sawyer Menzel on Oct. 25, 2025

    Ehren Cahill ’17 of San Francisco, California, passed the New York state bar and is now on the sustainability tax staff for EY.

    Rita (Cohen) Swartzentruber ’17 of Federal Way, Washington, welcomed a son, Cannon Jude, on Dec. 15, 2023 with her spouse, Ryan.

    Jonathan Williams ’17 of Astoria has been promoted from news editor to top editor at the Statesman Journal.

    Miranda Cervantes ’19 of Oxnard, California, was hired as head Athletic Director for Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth, Texas.

    Molly Danielson ’19 of Beaverton was nominated as a WISE (Women in Sports and Events) Women of Inspiration Woman to Watch for Portland and was selected as the Vice President of the Portland Executives Association. Molly is a Sales Account Executive with the Portland Trail Blazers.

    Riley Engdahl ’19 of Port Orford is continuing education for nursing certification CRNI.

    Carmen Hoffbeck ’19 of Portland is a doctoral student at the University of Auckland in New Zealand. For her dissertation, she is examining the gut microbiome of the tuatara, the lone survivor of the Rhynchocephalia order of reptiles.

    Melory Mirashrafi ’19 of Hillsboro was named one of seven up-and-coming theater artists who are changing the game on Portland stages by Oregon Arts Watch. Melory recently directed Sapience for Artist Repertory Theatre.

    Raquel Chase ’20 of Buckley, Washngton, started new role in May 2025 as Program Specialist 3 at South Seattle College’s Continuing Education department.

    Alex Jensen ’20 of Happy Valley is a digital producer who covers daily news, breaking news and business developments and the housing crisis for KGW.

    Maddy Shelton ’20 of Lake Oswego married Ashley Adams on Dec. 17.

    Faith Soto ’20 of Lyons earned her CIC (Certified in Infection Control) from the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC) accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA).

    Tanner Autencio ’21 of McMinnville began work as the physical education teacher for Madras Elementary School.

    Sam Gomez ’21 of Portland married Samantha Moellmer '19 on May 10 in Bend with friends and family.

    Ben Ranieri ’21 of Eagle, Idaho, started in August 2024 as the school’s first head baseball coach for Missoula Hellgate High School.

    Evan Bates ’22 of Chubbuck, Idaho, graduated from Central Washington University with a master’s degree in sport and athletic administration in June 2024. He is currently the director of sports marketing and promotions for the Idaho State University athletic department.

    Chandler Morris ’22 of Yamhill was hired as the Digital Design Specialist for the Rip City Remix.

    Sofia Nelson ’22 of Haslet, Texas, graduated in August with an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The Chicago School. She passed the National Counselor Examination in May.
