5/3/2007 Music groups collaborate for chamber recital

McMINNVILLE - Eight Linfield College instrumental ensembles and a vocal group will present a chamber music recital on Tuesday, May 15, at 4 p.m. in the Delkin Recital Hall in the Vivian A. Bull Music Center at Linfield.

The afternoon performance will feature groups composed mainly of students. Ensembles include the Linfield Brass Quartet led by Joan Haaland Paddock, professor of music; the Linfield Flute Choir directed by Denise Westby, adjunct professor of music; Linfield Cello Ensemble led by Sherill Roberts, adjunct professor of music; Linfield Percussion Ensemble directed by Kirsten Swanson, adjunct professor of music; and the Linfield Double Reed Quartet, Linfield Saxophone Quartet and Linfield Woodwind Quartet led by Steve Kravitz, adjunct professor of music. The recital will also include first-time performances by the Linfield Women's Vocal Ensemble directed by Debra Huddleston, adjunct professor of music, and Linfield Guitar Ensemble led by Pamela Goldsmith, adjunct professor of music.

The performance will feature an original work, “Dreams,” by Casey Frantum, a Linfield senior. Students will also play music by composers including Lombardo, Telemann, Handel, Pitoni, Marcello, Mozart, Leo, Dornel, Bach and Warren.
