4/4/2002 Linfield band to present spring concert

McMINNVILLE – The Linfield College concert band will present a concert Sunday, April 14, at 3 p.m. in Melrose Auditorium at Linfield.

The performance is free and open to the public.

Under the direction of Richard Elliott, adjunct professor of music at Linfield and music director at Newberg High School, the concert band will play six musical pieces. Songs include "Symphonic Overture" by James Barnes, "March of the Belgian Parachutists" by Pierre Leemaw and "Passacaglia and Fugue in C Minor" by J.S. Bach. Bach's "Passacaglia" was originally written for organ and transcribed for band by Leonard Falcone. The band will also perform "National Emblem March" by E.E. Bagley, "Godzilla Eats Las Vegas" by Eric Whitacre and "An American Elegy" by Frank Ticheli, which was commissioned for the survivors of the Columbine High School incident.
