11/16/2006 Linfield chamber music groups offer afternoon concert

McMINNVILLE - Seven Linfield College instrumental ensembles will present a chamber music recital on Tuesday, Dec. 5, at 4 p.m. in the Delkin Recital Hall located in the Vivian A. Bull Music Center at Linfield.

The afternoon performance will showcase groups made up predominantly of students with some community members. Ensembles include two Linfield Brass Ensembles led by Joan Haaland Paddock, professor of music; the Linfield Flute Choir, directed by Denise Westby, adjunct professor of music; the Linfield Saxophone Quintet, under the direction of Steve Kravitz, adjunct professor of music; the Linfield String Trio, coached by Karen Vincent, adjunct professor of music; the Linfield Cello Ensemble, coached by Sherill Roberts, adjunct professor of music; and the Linfield Percussion Ensemble, directed by Kirsten Swanson, adjunct professor of music.

The groups will perform a variety of works by composers including Colby, Payne, Bor, Bach, Niehaus and Coplan.
