Laux, an associate professor at the University of Oregons Creative Writing Program, received a degree in English from Mills College in 1988. She is co-author of The Poets Companion: A Guide to the Pleasures of Writing Poetry and the author of four published poetry collections: Awake, published in 1990; What We Carry, the 1994 National Book Critics Circle Award finalist; Smoke, a finalist for the Oregon Book Award in 2000; and her latest work, Facts About the Moon, published in 2005. Laux has been awarded the Pushcart Prize for Poetry, two fellowships from The National Endowment for the Arts and a Guggenheim Fellowship.
Millar, who received his master of arts in poetry from John Hopkins University, teaches at Oregon State University. His latest collection of poetry, Fortune, will be published this fall. He also published the collection Overtime which was a finalist for the 1999 National Poetry Series and has published a variety of poems in magazines like Ploughshares, New Letters and DoubleTake. He has been awarded fellowships from Montalvo Center for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts in Poetry and Oregon Literary Arts. Millar also received the Jacaranda Award for Poetry.
