11/9/2005 Linfield Thanksgiving service planned

McMINNVILLE – The annual Linfield College Thanksgiving service will be held on Sunday, Nov. 20, at 7:30 p.m. in Melrose Auditorium.

The service, sponsored by the Chaplain’s Office, is open to the public.

Jeffery Jackson, senior pastor at Friendship Christian Fellowship East and West Church in Beaverton and Portland, will be the keynote speaker for the service. Jackson is an American Baptist pastor and a leader in the African American community in Portland. Jackson, originally from Washington, D.C., started in the ministry in 1980 and then moved to Oregon in 1995. He is certified as a Dynamic Church Planter and has trained over 100 church planters across Africa to start churches.

Jackson’s daughter, Demetria Yarbrough, will offer special music. Robert Rife will lead additional music for the service. Rife has an extensive interest in choral, Celtic, folk and rock music. Rife, originally from Canada, holds a bachelor’s degree in music and vocal performance from Providence College in Manitoba.
