Activities for the students will begin Tuesday, Oct. 18, with the Mr. Linfield contest at 8 p.m. at the McMinnville Community Center. The tug-of-war will be held Wednesday, Oct. 19, at 5 p.m. at the Linfield intramural field. On Thursday, Oct. 20, the College Bowl will be held at 4 p.m. in 201 Riley Hall, followed by a song and banner contest at 8 p.m. at the bonfire pit. The lip sync competition will be Friday, Oct. 21, at 8 p.m. at the McMinnville Community Center.
Alumni homecoming activities will begin Friday, Oct. 21, with registration in Jereld R. Nicholson Library from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Alumni can attend two Classes Without Quizzes from 9:45 to 11:30 a.m. to learn about the graphic technology involved with the Wildcat football scoreboard from Nancy Cornwell, associate professor of mass communication; and the development of the AQx deep water runner shoe from its inventor, Garry Killgore, professor of health and human performance.
Fridays events will also include the Founders Society luncheon in Jonasson Hall, lower level of Melrose Hall, and the all-alumni lunch in Dillin Hall. Both events are at noon. A wine and antique tour will leave Linfield at 1:45 p.m. with stops at Duck Pond Cellars and antique stores in Lafayette. The day will finish with the homecoming dinner at 6 p.m. in Jonasson Hall. Alumni will have the opportunity to meet interim President Marvin Henberg and attend "A Performance Potpourri" by theatre and communication arts students.
Reunion events will be held throughout the weekend for the Linfield classes of the 1940s decade, 1950, 1955 and 1965, the choir, student abroad participants, and sociology and anthropology alumni.
Saturdays events begin with the Wildcat wellness trail walk that will leave from Nicholson Library at 9 a.m. Patti Webb, director of the McMinnville Downtown Association, will lead a walking tour of historic downtown McMinnville at 9 a.m., beginning at Cozine House on the corner of 3rd Street and Adams Street.
Alumni will also have the chance to attend informative sessions from 10 to 11 a.m. in Nicholson Library. Choices include childrens book reading, Demystifying Admissions, Rules and Tools of Estate Planning and study abroad reunion reception.
Other Saturday activities include an alumni barbecue at 11:30 a.m., along with the childrens activity area in the Hewlett Packard Park. The football team will face the University of Puget Sound at 1:30 p.m., during which the alumni choir, made up of generations of Linfield choir members, will perform the "Star Spangled Banner."
