Sandor is the author of "The Night Gardner," an essay collection, and two story collections including the recent "Portrait of My Mother, Who Posed Nude in Wartime," which won the 2004 National Jewish Book Award. Her essays and stories have appeared in The New York Times Magazine, The Georgia Review and Shenandoah. Sandors work has been anthologized in "The Best American Short Stories 1985," "The Best American Short Stories 1988," "Best of Beacon 1999" and "The Pushcart Prize XIII." Her honors include the 1998 Rona Jaffe Foundation Award for fiction and the 2000 Oregon Book Award for literary nonfiction. She teaches fiction and writing at Oregon State University.
Daugherty received the Oregon Book Award last fall for "Axemans Jazz." He previously won the Oregon Book Award for "It Takes a Worried Man" and "What Falls Away." He is also the author of "Five Shades of Shadow," "The Boy Orator" and "The Woman in the Oil Field." His work has appeared in The New Yorker, The Georgian Review, The Southwest Review and other literary journals. He earned the Texas Institute of Letters Brazos Bookstore Award for best short fiction story and the A.B. Guturie Jr. Short Fiction Award. In 1998, Daugherty received a fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts. He directs the MFA program in creative writing at Oregon State University and is a member of the MFA faculty at Warren Wilson College.
