The week will kick off with music from The Flying OCarolan Brothers, who will perform an Irish mix of the fiddle, bouzouki, mandolin, guitar, bass and vocals on Tuesday, March 29, at 7 p.m. in Fred Meyer Lounge. On Wednesday, March 30, there will be a traditional Japanese tea ceremony at 2 p.m. in Withnell Commons. The events on Thursday, March 31, will include an ethnic food sampler in Jonasson Hall in Melrose Hall at 7 p.m. and a performance by the Portland Jazz Band, with saxophone performer Warren Rand, at 8 p.m. in Melrose Auditorium. On Friday, April 1, there will be cha-cha dance lessons at 6 p.m. in HHPA multipurpose room. The week will end with Scandinavian egg painting lessons on Sunday, April 3, at 2 p.m. in Withnell Commons.
The week of events is sponsored to promote diversity on campus and facilitate cooperation between different organizations, according to Julia Putintsev, chairperson for Linfields cultural events.
"Linfield has a diverse population," said Putintsev. "This week focuses on the strengths that diverse groups bring to our campus."
