The master class will feature a number of Linfield students including sophomore Jessica Williams, junior Ben Kahn and senior Dan Schafer, all on trumpet; senior Beth Kumbalek on horn; freshman Peter Brown on tuba; and junior Kendele Miyasaki on clarinet. The collaborative pianist is Jennifer Garrett, Linfield staff accompanist.
In addition to presenting the master class, Caputo will also perform as soloist during a concert featuring the Linfield College-Community Band and the George Fox University Symphonic Band on Sunday, Nov. 14, at 3 p.m. in the McMinnville Community Center.
Caputo plays euphonium in the Band of the United States Air Force Reserves Concert Band and Ceremonial Band. He also plays trombone and euphonium with the Brass Quintet. In addition to his musical duties, Caputo is the bands computer workgroup administrator.
Caputo earned a bachelors degree from Duquesne University, studying euphonium with renowned soloist Brian L. Bowman. He performed as a soloist with the Duquesne University Wind Symphony and as a vocalist with the Duquesne Chamber Singers. He earned a masters in euphonium from the University of Michigan in 1997.
Caputo has been an active private low brass instructor, clinician and soloist throughout Georgia. He has also performed on baritone and euphonium with the Georgia Brass Band. His military decorations include the Air Force Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
