10/27/2004 Linfield choral groups to present fall concert

McMINNVILLE – Three Linfield College choral groups will present a concert on Sunday, Nov. 7, at 4 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 125 S. Cowls St., in McMinnville.

The performance, "Seasonal Songs of Joy, Praise, Love, Beauty and Thanksgiving," will feature the Masterworks Chorale, the Women’s Vocal Ensemble and the Concert Choir.

Larry Marsh, professor of music, will direct the Masterworks Chorale and the Concert Choir. The Masterworks Chorale will perform "Te Deum" by Franz Haydn. The Concert Choir will play "Sing Joyfully Unto God, Our Strength" by William Byrd, "Beati Quorum Via" by Charles Villars Stanford, "Amor de mi Alma" by Randall Stroope and "I’m Gonna Sing" by Moses Hogan. "Riu, Riu, Chiu" by The Kings Singers will feature solos by sophomores Brandon Madsen and Jerry Turner and junior Brandon Brown, with sophomore Chris Engbretson on tambourine.

Debra Huddleston, adjunct professor of music, will lead the Women’s Vocal Ensemble in six numbers including "Now I Walk in Beauty," "How Can I Keep From Singing" arranged by Ginger Littleton, "I Can’t Be Talkin’ of Love" by John Duke, "Little Elegy," "The Grunchin’ Witch" and "Yo le canto todo el dia" by David Brunner.
