4/2/2004 Linfield faculty to present reading

McMINNVILLE ? Rodger Larson and Ann Whitfield Powers, both from the Linfield College English Department, will present a reading Monday, April 12, at 7:30 p.m. in Nicholson Library.

Powers is a visiting professor of English at Linfield. She teaches creative writing, short fiction and 19th and 20th century American literature, among other classes. Her own fiction and essays have been published in Byline, Camas, the Miami Herald and in the Florida Audubon Magazine. She was also a semi-finalist in the Tara Fellowship Fiction Writing competition. She has a bachelor?s degree from Carleton College and a master?s in English with an emphasis on creative writing from Florida State University.

Larson is an adjunct professor of English at Linfield. He is the author of the novel "What I Know Now" and is working on his second novel, tentatively titled "Eli Riddle." He was a finalist for the Oregon Book Award in 1997 and that same year received the Andres Berger Award for Fiction from the Northwest Writers, Inc. He has taught at Portland State University, Portland Community College and the Metropolitan Learning Center. He has a bachelor?s degree from The Evergreen State College and a master?s in creative writing from Antioch University.

The reading, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored by the Linfield Department of English and Friends of Nicholson Library.
