5/9/2003 Linfield choral groups set to perform annual concert

McMINNVILLE – Four Linfield College choral ensembles will be featured in the annual spring choral concert, Sunday, May 18, at 4 p.m. in Melrose Auditorium.

“Music of Life, Love and Peace” will showcase a variety of choral music from different countries. Larry Marsh, director of choral activities at Linfield, will lead performances by the Masterworks Chorale and the Linfield Chamber Singers. Jackie Van Paepeghem, adjunct professor of music, will conduct the Women’s Vocal Ensemble, and several student conductors will lead the Concert Choir.

The Women’s Vocal Ensemble will perform music by Thomas Morley, Francesco Durante, Pablo Casals, Christine Korb and Catherine Bennett. Lwai Moo Paw and Kate Flego will be featured on piano and Melissa Sandoz will be featured on descant.

The Linfield Chamber Singers will perform “Trois Chansons” by Claude Debussy and several pieces including “The Blue Bird” and “Peace; Come Away” by Charles Villiers Stanford.

The Concert Choir will perform pieces by Antonio Vivaldi, Gabriel Faure, Ernani Aguiar, Joseph Gentry, Ramiro Real, Victor Paranjoti, Ralph Vaughn Williams and Michael Hennigan. Janna Ludwick and Rebecca Bowlby will be featured on piano.

The Linfield Masterworks Chorale will perform “Zigeunerlieder” by Johannes Brahms. Kathryn Ganske will be featured on piano.
