3/10/2003 Linfield publications earn national honors

McMINNVILLE – A number of Linfield College admission publications were recognized with seven national and regional awards recently.

Linfield received four awards during the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District VIII Awards Competition. Linfield earned a gold award for the senior viewbook, silver awards for a junior year reminder piece and the junior track series competing against 138 other entries, and a bronze award for the junior viewbook.

Linfield won another three honors during the 18th annual Admissions Advertising Awards, sponsored by the Admissions Marketing Report. The citings included a bronze award in the direct mail category for a search piece sent to potential students. The college also won a merit award for its total recruitment package, a 10-piece sample of mailings. A second merit award recognized a piece distributed at college fairs that featured a hand in tree leaves with the slogan "It's all in the palm of your hand."

The publications were designed by Creative Company, a McMinnville design firm. Many of the colleges worked with national publications firms specializing in admission publications.

The Linfield admission office sends out 350,000 pieces of mail each year to potential Linfield students, according to Dan Preston, dean of enrollment services and director of financial aid at Linfield.

"Publications are a very important tool for us to start to tell the story about Linfield," said Preston. "The goal is to create enough interest so that students will visit our campus. Our most successful marketing tool is the college and the community when people come to visit here."
