The Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing (Sigma) announced plans to induct Linfield University’s Kim Dupree Jones into the International Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame at the organization’s annual congress in July 2021. Jones is one of only 20 world-renowned nurse researchers — representing Australia, Canada, Taiwan, the United Kingdom and the United States — who will be recognized for improving the profession of nursing and the people it serves.

Linfield came one step closer to opening the doors on its new Portland Campus this month. The college took possession of the property Monday, June 1 after announcing the acquisition of the 20-acre location in November 2018. More than 80 students were honored with a traditional pinning ceremony after completing requirements for a bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) degree from the Linfield-Good Samaritan School of Nursing Dec. 15.
Of the 88 graduates, 55 are preparing to become registered nurses (RNs) and 33 are working nurses who completed the online RN to BSN program. Continue reading
Nursing students learn to help people “live until they die”
Senior nursing students at the Linfield-Good Samaritan School of Nursing participated in the inaugural symposium exploring palliative and end-of-life nursing care.
The first Dr. Jan Selliken Life Transitions Nursing Symposium was held on Wednesday, October 3rd. 76 students and 14 nursing faculty participated.
Most people aren’t asked about their genitals when seeking treatment for a sore throat. But that was the experience of a transgender person, who shared on Twitter using the hashtag #transhealthfail.
“So you’ve had all the Surgeries [sic]?,” the Twitter user recounted the doctor asking. “I’m here because I have the flu,” the person responded.
