Printing and Scanning

Printing, copying, scanning and microforms

You must do your own copying, printing and/or scanning, although library staff will gladly assist if requested. Individuals using the copiers, printers, scanners and/or microfilm are responsible for any infringement of copyright laws. See our copyright policy.

If you have any questions about these policies, contact Bahram Refaei, director of access and educational media services.

Printers

Nicholson Library contains four black and white printers and one color printer. You may print from the desktop computers or circulating laptops.

Printing is $0.05 per page for black and white and $0.25 per page for color. Linfield student accounts are charged for each paper printed. Guests of the library must pay per page at the circulation desk. To save paper, we encourage printing double-sided (note that you are still charged for two pages).

Scanners

Nicholson Library contains three black and white photocopiers, all of which can scan directly to Linfield email addresses.

The Mac Lab has three color scanners (please note the Mac Lab computers/scanners can only be accessed with a Linfield CatNet ID).

There is one microfilm/fiche scanner attached to a computer that can be used to view, scan or print microfilm/fiche. Printing from this machine is charged to your CatNet account.

Copiers

Nicholson Library contains three black and white self-serve photocopiers. Individuals using the copiers and printers are responsible for any infringement of copyright laws.

Photocopies cost $0.05 per copy. Two copiers are connected to PaperCut. Students can use these copiers if they have money loaded to their PaperCut accounts. Faculty and staff can use their departmental code to make copies. One copier is connected to a coin-op for patrons who do not use PaperCut. All three copiers can scan in color to Linfield e-mails or USB drives for no cost.

Microform

Nicholson Library contains one microfilm/fiche scanner attached to a computer that can be used to view, scan or print microfilm/fiche. Printing from this machine is charged to your CatNet account. Patrons without a CatNet may pay $0.05 per page at the circulation desk. You are welcome to bring a USB drive onto which you can scan your microfilm.

Users needing to use microfilm/fiche have priority access on the microfilm/fiche computer station.

Portland campus

There is a copy machine behind the circulation desk in the Portland campus library. You may ask to have copies made at the circulation desk. Copies cost $0.05 per single-sided copy and $0.10 for a double-sided copy. The copy fee can be paid in cash or added to your student library account. There is no copy fee for faculty.

There are no scanners available in the Portland campus library, but there are scanners in the computer labs.

If you have questions about these policies, contact Patrice O'Donovan, Portland campus library director.
