Reserves
The reserves system at the Linfield Libraries allows students to read required materials for a particular class. Faculty members may place either their own personal copy or a library book on reserve. They may also place photocopies of journal articles or past exams on reserve for two-hour checkout periods. Faculty are responsible for loading digitized documents to their Blackboard courses.
Library staff can support faculty with the digitization of documents. Please e-mail your digitization requests to library-circulation@linfield.edu.
To place physical materials on reserve, fill out a Reserve Request Form for the McMinnville or Portland campus and return it with your materials to the Circulation Desk in the appropriate library. (Note to faculty: see Library Copyright Policy for Reserves, Section III: Exceptions to Copyright Law, p. 5 of the PDF).
For scans and physical articles on reserve, materials should conform to the following guidelines:
- Photocopies must be on letter-size, single-sided white paper.
- Photocopies should be clean and sharp, without underlining or highlighting.
- A full bibliographic citation must be included on the first page of the material.
- Whenever possible, either landscape or portrait mode should be maintained throughout.
- Documents submitted electronically must be in Word, Excel, PowerPoint or PDF format and should be emailed to library-circulation@linfield.edu. A hard copy of a Reserve Request Form must be submitted to the circulation desk before any processing can take place.
You can find out what is on reserve for a particular class by visiting Course Reserve Readings. Search by keyword, professor or course name/number.
Fines for overdue reserve materials are:
- 2-hour reserves: $1 per hour overdue
- 4-hour reserves: $1 per hour overdue
- 1-day reserves: $2 per hour overdue
- 3-day reserves: $2 per hour overdue
