LSS Updates in Relation to Covid-19

All Learning Support Services operations are continuing remotely.  For campus-wide announcements please visit Coronavirus Update. Students may also benefit from Prepping for Success via Remote Learning.

Accommodations and Accessibility:
LSS will continue to collaborate with faculty members and students to ensure accommodation requirements will be met. As there may be new and unexpected barriers during this transition to remote learning, faculty members are encouraged to grant appropriate flexibility if there are accessibility barriers that prevent a student from accessing materials or completing assignments. Please direct any questions about student accommodation needs to LSS.

Testing Accommodations:
Students that are approved for testing accommodations for in-person classes will be eligible to use those same testing accommodations in an online/remote environment. The most commonly utilized testing accommodation would be extended time. Professors can refer to Test Exceptions in Blackboard for instructions on how to adjust the amount of time allowed for students approved for extended time. Professors must make this change for each exam since LSS proctoring will not be possible in an online environment. 

Students should locate a reduced distraction location with internet access for taking exams. 

New Accommodations Requests:
Students experiencing new disability-related barriers should contact LSS as soon as possible so that appropriate arrangements can be made.

Tutoring Resources:
One-on-one tutoring sessions arranged by LSS will continue remotely. These sessions will not occur during Spring Break but are scheduled to resume at the same time as instruction. LSS recommends utilizing Zoom for tutoring sessions. Students and Tutors can review instructions for accessing Zoom. Tutors and tutees should communicate directly about setting up remote meeting times for the remainder of the semester. 

Department Tutoring:
LSS will keep an updated list of remote drop-in tutoring resources. Enter your full Linfield email address and associated Catnet password to see the document. 

Academic Coaching:
All current academic coaching appointments will be transitioned remotely. Students who are not actively using academic coaching can request this type of support. These meetings will allow students to work on study strategies, time management, organization issues that may occur while adapting to a changing learning environment.

Learning Support office operations are all being conducted remotely. It is recommended all students schedule an appointment in advance by calling 503-883-2562 or emailing lss@linfield.edu
