Sorority Recruitment

Linfield is home to three national sororities (Alpha Phi, Phi Sigma Sigma, & Zeta Tau Alpha) & one local sorority (Sigma Kappa Phi). The shared values of all Linfield FSL chapters are scholarship, service, philanthropy, leadership, & sisterhood.

Linfield is a deferred joining campus, meaning first year, non-transfer students must wait until their spring semester to join a chapter. Linfield requires that students interested in joining the FSL Community are in good standing with the College & have a minimum 2.5 college GPA.

All of our chapters practice values-based recruitment, which centers the membership recruiting process on the core values each FSL organization was founded upon. Whether or not you ultimately find your home in Linfield FSL, going through the recruitment process in and of itself is a great way to get involved and meet more students on campus. Students going through the sorority recruitment process can expect to be treated with respect at all times. Click here to view our Potential New Member Bill of Rights

Though the recruitment process itself is free, there is a financial commitment to sorority membership. Click here for a detailed financial transparency document for our sororities

Linfield Sorority Life provides two opportunities for recruitment throughout the year:

Fall Continuous Open Recruitment (Open to Sophomores, Juniors, & Seniors)

Fall recruitment, also referred to as Continuous Open Bidding or "COB," is one opportunity for women to join a sorority at Linfield. Because we are a deferred recruitment campus, fall recruitment is only open to sophomore, junior, & senior women. While freshman cannot join a chapter until the spring recruitment process begins in February, there are opportunities for freshmen women to get to know sorority women through Open Houses & chapter philanthropy events.

Spring Primary Formal Recruitment (Open to All Grade Levels)

Spring recruitment takes place the first week of classes in February and is a more structured process than fall recruitment. Spring recruitment is open to all freshmen, sophomore, junior & senior women. There are events each night during the week, so anyone planning to participate in spring recruitment should plan ahead & be proactive with their time management. Sign ups for Spring Recruitment open the Monday after Thanksgiving break.

Because spring recruitment is more structured, PNMs will have the help of a Rho Gamma (recruitment guide) for guidance throughout the recruitment week. Rho Gammas are sorority members who act as an unbiased resource to help you through the recruitment process. They are trained, impartial leaders who will walk you to recruitment rounds, answer questions, and overall be a friend & "sister" through the recruitment process.
