Dr. Laustsen has worked as an RN (10 years), family nurse practitioner (22 years) and nurse educator (28 years) at the baccalaureate, master's and doctoral level. He is involved with the CCNE accreditation organization and has previously been on the board of the Rural Nurse Organization and NONPF. He has been an FNP in an emergency department, in underserved and rural primary care clinics, and in high school and university health centers. Dr. Laustsen was recognized as the 2011 Nurse Practitioner of the Year (Oregon), Fellow in the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (2013) and Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing (2013).
