To take advantage of this offer, submit your application for admission by February 17th. When you submit your online application with a Start Date of Spring or Summer 2014, you will save the $100 application fee for degree and $50 for certificate. Path to Scholarships® Workshop
Sign up for a hands-on online webinar or in person workshop in Portland, Saturday, February 22, 8:30am – 12:30pm where you will learn how to successfully apply for scholarships. The webinar and workshop will be taught by Gerardo Ochoa, Associate Director of Financial Aid at Linfield’s Portland campus. Admission to the Program
From anywhere in the USA call toll free 1-800-452-4176, and we will connect you with an advisor who is knowledgeable about the degree or certificate program you are considering. Prior college coursework is not required for admission. Most college credits with grades of C and higher from regionally accredited colleges, will apply toward a Linfield degree.
Financial aid is available to all eligible degree- or certificate-seeking students enrolled for the appropriate number of credits. Various grants and subsidized Stafford Loans are available to those students who demonstrate financial need, and unsubsidized Stafford Loans are awarded to students on a no-need basis. Students must be admitted to the College prior to receiving a financial aid award. Credit for Prior Learning
Many adults return to college with learning acquired from a variety of sources (on the job, non-credit workshops, travel, personal interests, homemaking, and volunteer responsibilities). As many as 31 semester credits may be earned by developing a portfolio in which this learning is shown to be equivalent to specific college courses. The portfolio class, IDST 250, is offered online each spring semester. In addition, college credit can be awarded for the successful completion of challenge exams, CLEP (College-Level Examination Program), military training and many employer-sponsored courses evaluated by the American Council on Education (ACE).
Computer Account (CATNET)
Linfield students must set up a Linfield CatNet account. This account gives you access to your online classes, to the computer labs and libraries of the McMinnville and Portland campuses, to your grades and transcript and to online research databases through the library. This account also creates an email account that can be accessed through your own email system or through the web. Your CatNet account will remain active as long as you remain a current student. You can set up your account at http://www. linfield.edu/dce/computer-accounts.html. When filling out the request for an account, be sure to select DCE as your campus (regardless of where you attend) and Student as your account type. You may also use this page to access our online library resources and WebAdvisor. Important notices will be sent only to your Linfield College email (WebMail). Check your Linfield email regularly. Linfield does not provide internet access off campus.
Online (OL) courses are conducted via computer and the Web, and you must open a computer account before the class starts. Purchasing Your Books on Linfield WebAdvisor
When you register for class(es) on WebAdvisor using “Express Registration” you can click the link under “Book Store Information” to see a list of books or purchase books for your class(es). That link takes you to the Linfield College Bookstore site where your shopping cart has been loaded with all the required and suggested course materials. You may delete or add any books, study aids or spirit gear before completing your order. You may also order books by selecting “My Class Schedule” and clicking individually on each of your classes.
Log on to http://linfield.bncollege.com and select “Shop Now” to begin selecting your textbook for your class(es) by choosing “DCE Spring 2014” under the “Select Your Term” button. Once you have filled your cart, select “in store pick up” or provide your shipping address and securely complete your transaction by using a major credit/debit card or your PayPal account.
Once you have filled your cart, please select your method of payment using a major credit/debit card, your PayPal account, or Financial Aid. Please note: Students electing to use financial aid as method of payment must submit all required paperwork to the Linfield College Financial Aid Office and have their funding approved before any textbooks are processed and shipped. Customers will receive two different notifications: 1) that your order was received by our system; and, 2) that your order has been processed and has been shipped (tracking information will be provided via email), or that it is ready to be picked up at our store. Please order your textbooks at least 10 days before the term begins in order to avoid expedited shipping and handling charges. Faxed textbook orders are no longer required. All students with a CatNet account may register on WebAdvisor. Detailed instructions are provided on our website at www.linfield.edu/dce under “Admissions” “Online Admission and Registration.”You may add and drop classes on WebAdvisor until the beginning of late term registration.
Online Payment by Credit Card through TMS
Payment is due online the day you register on WebAdvisor. Select the “Make a Payment” link to TMS (Tuition Management System) on WebAdvisor after registering. You will not be charged a credit card teleprocessing fee if you pay your account in full when registering. Full information is available at http://www.linfield.edu/dce/payments.html.
Payment plans are available for spring semester. The tuition payment plan offered by Linfield is through Tuition Management Systems (TMS) and includes tuition and fees. The TMS $30.00 fee and application should be received by TMS no later than January 15 for spring regardless of the first monthly payment date. There is no interest charge if all payments are made as scheduled with TMS. However, if your TMS payment is late, TMS will assess a $50 late fee, and Linfield will assess a fee of $25.00 per late payment per month along with a 1% per month Finance Charge for the remainder of the TMS plan. A plan may be established by going to www.linfield.afford.com and paying the $30.00 fee.
If You Are Eligible For Financial Aid
You must be admitted to the College and have submitted a FAFSA, LAFA and an academic plan to the financial aid office before registering. Students who want Federal Direct Stafford Loans must register for a minimum of 6 credits per semester. The portion of the semester billed charges not covered by accepted net financial aid and not included in the TMS payment plan must be paid directly to Linfield one week before the beginning of the semester/term. Please make check or money order payable to Linfield College and mail to Linfield College, 900 SE Baker St. A459, McMinnville, Oregon 97128-6894. Linfield College does NOT accept credit cards as an acceptable method of payment for Tuition and Fees. However, Linfield has contracted with TMS to administer our credit card payment program. Grades and Transcripts
Grades will be available on WebAdvisor within two weeks after the end of the semester. We do not mail grades. If you experience difficulty in logging on to your WebAdvisor account, please call DCE at 800-452-4176. We will be happy to send unofficial transcripts upon request. Requests for unofficial transcripts must be signed and may be mailed or faxed to our office. Order official transcripts at http://www.linfield.edu/registrars/transcripts.html.
Adding And Dropping Courses
Add and drop classes on WebAdvisor until the term begins or by completing the “Add/Drop Form” on www.linfield.edu/dce/current-students. Please do not contact the instructor if you wish to add a class. Contact your advisor instead. According to college policy students may not enroll in a course after 10 days have passed in a semester. RN to BSN majors need to consult with their faculty advisor as well.
Withdrawing From All Courses Except Field Based
If you withdraw from a class by 5pm March 7 no notation will appear on your transcript. If you withdraw after March 7 and by 5pm April 18 a “W” will appear on your transcript. No withdrawal is permitted after April 18.
Withdrawing From Field-Based Courses
If you drop a field-based class after the first class meeting, no notation will appear on your transcript. If you drop a field-based class on the day of the second meeting, a “W” will appear on your transcript. No withdrawal from field-based class is permitted after the second class meeting.

Computer Science System Development Fee
Computer Science students (BIS majors and CIS certificates) acquire over $8000 worth of industry-standard software for only $400 per year. (Check with instructor for minimum hardware requirements.) This required purchase will include all updates and new releases as they become available throughout the year. Each school year, the first time you register for any computer science course (except COMP 101, COMP 404, and COMP 484), your student account will be charged $400. You will have the entire semester to pay this fee.
RN-BSN Annual Liability Insurance Premium
RN-BSN students are protected under the Linfield College liability insurance, when carrying out clinical/community responsibilities during nursing courses. A $60 fee is charged annually with your registration (beginning with NURS 309).
Spring Commencement Weekend is May 31 to June 1, 2014. Please submit an intent to graduate form if you have not yet done so.
Those who have been approved for graduation will receive information for ordering caps, gowns and announcements. You do not need to come to campus for a financial aid exit interview.
Baccalaureate will be Saturday, May 31, at 5pm. The Commencement ceremony will begin at 10am on Sunday, June 1, and last approximately two hours.
Graduates are expected to be in the Ted Wilson gymnasium by 9am Sunday, June 1, in their caps and gowns to line up for the processional.

A Linfield computer account (CatNet) gives you: A Linfield email address (email@example.com) available on the web at WEBMAIL or that you can forward to your personal account by going to SET UP EMAIL FORWARD. Linfield will use this account to send important school-wide messages, so please log in and check your account regularly. Access to grades, schedules and transcript on Webadvisor. Access to a full range of library resources. Access to the computer labs on McMinnville and Portland campuses, as well as the printers in the Nicholson library. Online courses use the same credentials as the Linfield CatNet accounts; you must set one up to be able to access Online Courses. The user name (CatNet ID) and password are the same. Online (Blackboard) Instructions
Open your browser and go to http://www.linfield.edu/dce. Under the Quicklinks dropdown menu, select the “Blackboard” link. This will take you to a log-in screen. Your user name will be your Linfield CatNet account (email and WebAdvisor) user name. Your password for Blackboard is also the same as WebAdvisor and email. If you haven’t already signed up for a Linfield CatNet account go back to the “Current Students” link and select “Computer Accounts.” On the Computer Accounts page, follow the directions for opening a CatNet account. An online demonstration class will be accessible starting Wednesday, February 12. Once you log in you will receive a popup message with instructions on how to access the demo. The class(es) you have registered for will start Monday, February 17. Make sure you can log in before this date. When you log in on Wednesday, February 12, you will see your list of available classes in the Course List box. If you do not see your class or you are having log-in problems, please call the DCE office (800-452-4176) or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
DMO 101 Online Demonstration Course
Free tutorial for new OL users and students who are using Blackboard for the first time. We strongly advise anyone who has not taken an OL course to attend this tutorial. Classes for which you have registered and a demonstration class will be available for viewing. Strategies for successful online learning will also be discussed. You may participate in the McMinnville tutorial class via the web. If you plan to attend, please email email@example.com the date you plan to attend and your computer skill level. Registered Nurses with an Associate Degree in Nursing:
As an RN with an unencumbered license, prior success in college courses where you have maintained a 2.75 or higher grade point average, and a recommendation form submitted by your supervisor, it’s easy for you to get started in the Online RN to BSN program at Linfield. When Do I Enroll in the Nursing Major Courses
After you are admitted to Linfield College, and have completed the school of nursing prerequisites, and most of the general education requirements (the Linfield Curriculum), you will enroll in the nursing major courses, beginning with NURS 309. Preference will be given to admitted students who have paid a $200 non-refundable deposit to secure a place in NURS 309. The deposit is applied to your student account. You will be notified approximately three months prior to your anticipated NURS 309 start date informing you of how and when to pay the deposit. The deposit payment deadlines are: July 1, Fall cohort; December 1, Spring cohort; and April 1, Summer cohort. RNs joining the Spring cohort are required to complete the RN-BSN online orientation.
You may complete the online orientation anytime between February 14 and 21, 2014. Your participation in the online orientation is tracked for completion. Further instructions will be sent to you upon your registration for NURS 309.
RNs with an unencumbered license in a state outside of Oregon
In NURS 475, the final course in the program, there is a clinical practicum component. You may have the opportunity to travel abroad to complete your clinical placement or at a local facility/organization near you. If you hold an unencumbered RN license in a state outside of Oregon and wish to complete the clinical placement near your place of residence, please contact Linda Luce at firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss the feasibility of such a placement.
