What are you doing now?
I am the founder and CEO of The Relish, a digital sports TV network for female fans.
Tell us about yourself.
I live in San Francisco, Calif., with my partner Eric and our dog Henry. After Linfield, I moved back to my hometown of Seattle to pursue a dream job with the Seattle Mariners. In 2010, I made the move to San Francisco for a job with the SF Giants. The tech and startup scene of the Silicon Valley are a bit contagious. I ended up working in online media with Pandora and several startups before venturing out to launch my own digital sports media startup. When I'm not running a startup, you can usually find me traveling, hiking or wine tasting.
How did Linfield help prepare you for your career?
Although I did not end up in a career in education, it was at Linfield that I realized my lifelong dream of working in sports was still something that was incredibly important to me. It is also where I found the confidence to pursue that dream. During my senior year, I took Peter Buckingham's class, "The History of Baseball," which was an overview of the business of baseball. I was enamored with everything I was learning about the business side of the sport. As soon as I left Linfield, I pursued a dream opportunity to work for my favorite team, the Seattle Mariners. I took all the general life and work skills that I had learned about teaching and applied them to my entry level role. That was my initial launchpad into the world of sports. Now I run my own sports media company, disrupting the scene for new opportunities for women.
