Celebrating alumni and all they do for Linfield
This week, April 17-21, is Alumni Appreciation Week. Each day, the college will highlight a different aspect of alumni participation at the college. On Monday, Linfield celebrated alumni who serve on committees. On Tuesday, the college highlighted alumni giving and the many ways those donors enhance the Linfield experience. Wednesday is the day to feature alumni who share their time and talents. Thursday, we feature alumni who have helped other alumni obtain jobs and on Friday, we recognize alumni who are also employees. Please join us in celebrating and acknowledging all alumni who participate in the life of the college.

Linfield recognized in national publications
National publications continue to recognize Linfield College and our students for the opportunities the college presents. Megan Schwehr '16 was featured by U.S. News and World Report in a story about the top majors for undergrads looking to attend medical school. Schwehr is headed to the University of Washington, ranked the #1 medical school in America, and you can learn more about her and her research with Professor Cecilia Toro in this video. Linfield’s proximity to some of the Northwest’s best outdoor activities ranks it #4 on Money Magazine’s list of “10 Best Colleges for People Who Love the Great Outdoors.” Finally, career website Zippia.com ranked Linfield #1 in Oregon for “Best College for Employment in Each State.”
Wildcats take two conference crowns in one weekend
Linfield’s women’s tennis and baseball teams won regular season Northwest Conference titles last weekend. Both programs are in the midst of impressive winning streaks as the nationally-ranked women’s tennis team has won eight consecutive conference matches and the baseball team rattled off 13 consecutive NWC victories. Both programs will host NWC tournaments this weekend in McMinnville. Additionally, the softball team finished second in the NWC and is bound for the conference tournament in Spokane. Cheer on your postseason-bound Wildcats.
Two great opportunities for 50-Year Club members
If you are in the Class of 1967 or earlier, you are a member of Linfield’s 50-Year Club and invited to the annual 50-Year Club Luncheon Wednesday, May 10, in Riley Hall. Reconnect with friends and classmates and hear talented Linfield students talk about academic success. As part of Commencement weekend, members of the 50-Year Club are invited to participate in the Sunday, May 28, ceremony as Golden Grads. Don a cardinal colored cap and gown and line the Commencement green, greeting the Class of 2017 as they enter the commencement green. This is a great way to model your loyalty to the college and to participate in one of our most beloved traditions. Register now to participate in either or both of these events.
Celebrate our students
Linfield's Student Symposium, held each spring, is a daylong celebration of the academic work being done by Linfield students. Alumni and community members are invited to the McMinnville campus to see some of this work, and celebrate with our students. The work ranges from student performances, to set design, to research in the social and behavioral sciences and the natural sciences. This year’s version, the 25th Annual Linfield College Student Symposium, is scheduled for Friday, May 5, with events scheduled throughout the day at Nicholson Library and the surrounding buildings. Join us in California for wine tasting and conversation
Linfield alumni, parents and friends are invited to Wente Vineyards Estate Winery & Tasting Room in Livermore, Calif., Saturday, May 13. Enjoy tastings of five wines and join President Thomas L. Hellie as he shares updates and news from the college. Since 1883, five generations of the Wente family have planted, grown and harvested fruit from their estate vineyards. Taste their wines while also enjoying conversation with others who share your ties to Linfield. Read more about the event or register online.
From the classroom to the court
How do student-athletes handle the rigors of a Linfield education while competing for conference titles? Jordan Clark '18 can answer that. He's preparing for a career as a pediatrician and just finished his junior season on the men’s basketball team. Meet Jordan and hear how he balances life as a pre-med major, student-athlete and resident advisor.
