Appreciating Alumni Who Hire Other Wildcats

One way that alumni can strengthen the Linfield network and thus add value to their own degrees is by hiring Linfield students or other alumni for jobs or internships. We so appreciate alumni who create employment opportunities for those who share their Linfield connections. Read about a few alumni who were able to do just that.

Chris Grebisz '90

Chris Grebisz ’90 currently serves as chief innovation officer (CIO) for Welocalize, a translation and global services company with approximately 1,500 people in 20 offices around the globe.  In 2016, the company started an intern program in their Portland office, and looked to the Linfield career development team for guidance.  Since Linfield prizes languages and international studies, there seemed a natural partnership that would be mutually beneficial. That summer, Christopher Hu ’17 joined Welocalize as their first student intern.  Hu has since been offered a project manager position which he will begin after graduation in May. The Portland office has 150 employees, and after Hu joins, four of those will be Linfield alumni. In addition to Hu and Grebisz, Welocalize also employs Chris' brother, Matt Grebisz ’95, and Darin Goble ’91. Grebisz is now supporting Linfield in another capacity – as a Linfield parent. He and his wife Michele (Evers) Grebisz ’90 are proud parents of Issac, who is set to graduate from Linfield in 2019.

Rob Owens '94

Rob Owens is putting his finance and mathematics degree to good use as a managing director at Pacific Crest Securities. He has appeared on CNBC and Bloomberg Television, and is frequently quoted in financial and industry trade publications such as The Wall Street Journal, Forbes and Investor's Business Daily. Accolades include a ranking in The Wall Street Journal’s “Best on the Street” for his earnings forecasting, sixth in a survey by Reuters for his quality of research in the software sector, and frequently ranking in Institutional Investor’s All-American Research Team over his career. He was also recently honored as Keybanc Capital Markets analyst of the year. To recognize his many accomplishments, he was honored as the 2008 Outstanding Young Alumnus for Linfield College. However, Rob is not only interested in his own success, he is also interested in the success of others. He has built a very strong team at Pacific Crest Securities, and at the moment there are seven other Linfield alumni working there. Rob has been either solely or partially responsible for hiring at least six Linfield alumni since joining the company in 1994. We are grateful for the many ways that Rob has demonstrated his commitment to Linfield and made it possible for so many others to have opportunities at Pacific Crest Securities.
