Admission and application requirements for our pre-licensure accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN)

This is information for students seeking admission to our 12-month accelerated BSN.

You must have a previous bachelor’s degree and all prerequisites complete before the final materials deadline of May 1 for this program.

All nursing major courses will be delivered on our Portland campus in the School of Nursing. As Linfield maintains a strong commitment to developing nurse leaders, admission to this program is highly competitive. And we always complete a holistic review of each application.

Admission requirements:

  • Applicants must complete their bachelor’s degree before the final materials deadline of May 1 for this program
  • Applicants must fulfill Linfield’s GPA and prerequisite course requirements
  • Applicants who are non-native English speakers will be required to show evidence of English proficiency before admission
    • Students who present TOEFL scores of 550 and above (paper-based exam) or 213 and above (computer-based exam) are generally eligible for admission with a minimum GPA of 2.0 in previous college work

Application requirements:

  • Submit a completed application through NursingCAS. You are required to include one reference with contact information in your application.
  • Ensure all official transcripts are received by NursingCAS by the application and final materials deadline. One of your transcripts must include the date that your bachelor’s degree was conferred.
  • Students with international credentials will need to submit a translated credential evaluation (from one of these agencies) with their admission application.

Application calendar for ABSN program

If you have completed your first bachelor's degree as well as your nursing prerequisites and are ready to begin your nursing coursework on the Portland campus, this information is for you. 

December 1:

  • Application deadline for all spring students
  • Applications must be complete with all transcripts verified by NursingCAS and recommendations received
  • All materials must be submitted in NursingCAS with the exception of any international credential evaluations from English-speaking international institutions. Please submit official copies of evaluations completed by an approved agency to the Office of Admission

March 1:

  • Admission notifications released through Linfield’s application portal
  • This date is subject to change

April 1:

  • Nursing candidate matriculation (enrollment fee) deadline

May 1:

  • All nursing prerequisites and minimum 62-semester credits (93 quarter credits) of transferable coursework complete
  • Final official transcripts showing completion of all prerequisites, completed bachelor's degree and 62 transferrable semester credits must be received by NursingCAS.
  • Complio (compliance and immunization management) medical documentation, background check and drug screen complete and verified; no exceptions
