Major in Engineering

Engineering Menu

Engineers apply their knowledge of mathematics, physics and structures to solve real-world problems. Within the Engineering program at Linfield, you will have the freedom to build on core courses while choosing the best path for your interests. Linfield graduates often pursue further graduate study in engineering, move on to professional careers, or choose Linfield’s 3-2 engineering program, which allows students to complete three years at Linfield and the final two at another college or university.
Engineering majors at Linfield might take:
PHYS 252
Engineering Statics and Dynamics
Problem-solve and engineer applications using Newtonian mechanics.
PHYS 303
Introduction to Materials Science
Get your hands dirty as you explore the science of materials: metals, ceramics, polymers, composites, and semiconductors.
PHYS 310
Engineering Design and Graphics
Learn basic drafting skills and the foundations of engineering design, including free-hand sketching, 3D solid modeling, and tolerance concepts.
