Call Admitted Students

Admission has created a faculty calling portal to make calling admitted students easy. Calls can be made through the end of April. Seven call slots are available each Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 4:45-6:30 p.m. and training/assistance from Admission is provided at each session.

It has been described by the faculty who have done it as “not as painful as I thought,” and “kind of fun.” Many thanks to those who have already volunteered their time.

Please refer to Lisa Knodle-Bragiel’s February 27 email for details about the calling portal.

Dr. Miles K. Davis Meet and Greet

Incoming President Miles Davis was on the Portland campus yesterday, and will be in McMinnville today and tomorrow, Wednesday, March 7 for a series of scheduled meetings.

Events Calendar and 25Live

We have increasingly noticed that Linfield’s Events Calendar is not being fully utilized.

If you host an event, please select “McMinnville Calendar” under the Resources field in 25Live. This will automatically add your event to the Events Calendar, Wildcat Weekly email, and the ASLC Events app.

If you need EMS to provide AV equipment support for your event, specify the equipment you need in the Resources field, or select Option B: Will event require technology support from EMS? in the Requirements field. If option B is selected, EMS will contact you.

Please see the 25Live FAQs webpage for clarification. For additional questions or training in 25Live, please contact Beth Garcia at

Spring Visit Days

The Office of Admission is hosting Spring Visit Days for admitted seniors on Monday, March 12 and Monday, April 9. These preview days allow admitted students a final chance to experience Linfield before deciding whether they will enroll at the college.

If a prospective student expresses interest in having lunch with faculty in a particular discipline, the department chair has been contacted by the Office of Admission. Thank you for helping us make our visitors feel welcome as they finalize their enrollment decision.

Questions regarding the event can be directed to Patrick Wilson at x2373 or

March Faculty Lecture

The Faculty Lecture Series continues with a presentation by Patrick Cottrell on "Dead Wrong:" Will the United States repeat the mistakes of the Iraq war in North Korea and Iran?"

By putting the audience in the shoes of those responsible for making Iraq policy in the years prior to the invasion, Cottrell identifies often overlooked contours of this fateful decision and reveals lessons of contemporary relevance for the Trump administration's policy toward Iran and North Korea that have been obscured or forgotten in the fog of war.

The lecture will be Wednesday, March 14 at 7:00 p.m. in Fred Meyer Lounge, Riley Hall. For more information about the Faculty Lecture Series, please contact Meridith Symons at

Milliman Scholarship for Students

Milliman’s Opportunity Scholarship assists undergraduate students from ethnic groups that are under-represented in the fields of actuarial science, data science, computer science, economics, programming, mathematics, statistics, data analytics, or finance. The application deadline is Friday, April 13.
