Linfield College

Academic Affairs Weekly

Commencement

Volume 5, Issue 2 – August 22, 2017

Classes don’t start until next week, but Linfield is already a busy place: we have students on-campus at four pre-Orientation events, Resident Assistants are being trained, student athletes are practicing, and we enjoyed a successful eclipse event!

Below you will find lots of information about our new faculty, staff and important meeting dates for the Fall semester.

Last week, Academic Affairs sent out the first of this year’s Weeklies. These weekly updates are emailed each Tuesday morning, and are archived and searchable on the Academic Affairs Weekly webpage with links to necessary forms and documents.

McMinnville Classes on Labor Day

As you know, the new academic calendar is in effect. McMinnville campus classes will be held on Labor Day. The rest of the college will be closed, with the exception of Dillin Hall and Starbucks, which will be open per the resident dining calendar.

Fall Break is scheduled for Monday, October 9 and Tuesday, October 10.

Syllabus Preparation

Last week’s Academic Affairs Weekly included important syllabus information. Please note the language suggested for diversity and inclusion.

Welcome New Associate Dean

Professor Jackson Miller has joined the Office of Academic Affairs as Associate Dean. Jackson has moved to Melrose 201C in the Academic Affairs Office, and Christopher Gaiser has returned to his home department of Biology in Murdock 231.

Jackson is keeping his phone extension and can be reached at jmiller@linfield.edu or x2625. Chris can be reached at cgaiser@linfield.edu or x2537.
