There are a variety of ways for individuals to obtain employment with Upward Bound:

Working as a tutor-driver is a great way to earn some money while gaining valuable
experience and building positive relationships with young people.
Linfield College students who are eligible for Work Study (preferred) or Campus Employment are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in education, psychology, or sociology. The tutoring aspect of the position takes place on Tuesday evenings (in addition to some other nights) on campus and entails assisting the students in all subject areas.
The driving portion of the position requires certification by Linfield. Using college vehicles, staff members drive one of 5 routes to outlying communities to pick up and return program participants. Hiring for these positions generally takes place at the beginning of the fall and spring semesters. Academic year tutoring runs from September through May.
Summer Tutor-Counselor
A fun and meaningful way to spend your summer, the position of tutor-counselor
requires individuals to give freely of their time and talents as well as their
hearts.

Staff work and live on campus with 50 program participants who attend classes, work, and participate in supervised cultural and recreational activities.
