from Murdock Hall (there is an Upward Bound sign right out front).
Mission Statement
Upward Bound is a college preparatory program that assists eligible participants to develop skills and motivation necessary for success in education beyond high school. The project helps students by providing counseling, tutoring, academic year and summer residential coursework, college preparatory activities and weekly academic year contact.
During the summer, 50 students in grades 9-12 participate in a six-week residential program on Linfield's Campus. The program includes classes, activities, tutoring, and cultural and social programming. There is also a camping experience and a number of field trips during the summer.
Upcoming Events
UB "Give and Go" Collection Event - May 11-May 31Donate your unwanted items and non-perishable food to UB! We'll be collecting anything and everything - clothing, furniture, books, toys, household items, etc. - to sell at our annual garage sale which will take place July 13 and 14. The proceeds will go to a scholarship fund and to help fund special program activities. The food will be given to needy families in the community. Place your items in the blue barrels located throughout campus or contact us at the UB office.
Parent-Student Summer Orientation Meeting - May 16
We will be hosting our annual summer orientation for students who will be attending the summer program and their parents on Wednesday, May 16 following tutoring at 7pm. The orientation will take place in the Fred Meyer Lounge in Riley Hall. This is a great opportunity to learn about all of the fun and educational opportunities that will be a part of the summer program this year. Cookies and punch will be provided as well. Please contact Lyn at the UB office and let us know if you'll be coming.
