Speaking Center

The Linfield Speaking Center, located in the Nicholson Library Group Study Room 184, is a place where students can go to receive help with their speaking assignments. We will assist students with individual speeches and oral reports as well as group presentations. Our operations are modeled on speaking centers at other college and universities throughout the country and are similar to those of the Writing Center. You may simply drop-in during regular hours with your assignment, your notes, or a rough draft of your outline (if you have one).

Mondays 3:00pm – 5:00pm, 7:00pm – 10:00pm
Tuesdays 3:00pm – 5:00pm , 7:00pm – 10:00pm
Wednesdays 7:00pm – 10:00pm
Thursdays 3:00pm – 5:00pm, 7:00pm – 10:00pm

Consultations are available on a first-come, first-served basis during our open Speaking Center hours. OR to schedule an appointment during non-scheduled hours, email us (speaking@linfield.edu)[Please allow 24 hours advance notice to schedule an appointment at times other than those listed above.]

Upon your arrival to the Center, a Peer Representative will greet you and be ready to assist you with your oral presentation needs. Our team of peer tutors will assist you with individual speeches and oral reports as well as group presentations.

We ask that you do your part and bring your assignment sheet and other materials with you to ensure the most effective consultation.
