Goals for a Theatre Arts Major or Minor

In successfully completeing a major or minor in Theatre Arts, a student will:

• Obtain knowledge of a broad range of theatrical disciplines and experiences, each of which is important to an understanding of the whole.
• Understand the interrelationships among all theatrical disciplines by analyzing and solving problems in most practical areas of theatre production.
• Acquire the skills necessary to function as mindful and creative theatre artists who appreciate the ambiguity of diverse theatrical experiences and the role of theatre in society.
• Achieve adequate preparation to enter graduate school, to accept entry-level positions in theatre or adapt theatre knowledge and skills to other careers, and to adopt creative approaches to lifelong learning.
• Develop an understanding of how the theory and practice of theatre inform other liberal arts disciplines.
