Passing Clean Access

1. Once Cisco Clean Access Agent is installed on the Windows OS and you are connected to the Linfield network, a Clean Access login window will appears asking for your User Name and Password

  • Type your UserName (CatNet ID) and Password.
  • Remember Me (optional) – enabling this will have Clean Access automatically entering your Password when you type your User Name and hit the Return key.
  • Authentication Provider - Select LDAP  from the dropdown menu.
  • Click Login button.

2. (Vista Users) - A Security Alert window will appear asking for permission to continue.

  • Click Yes button.

3. You have Temporary Access! – Means your system does not meet the necessary requirements to pass.

  • Click Continue button.

Depending on what requirements your system needs (Windows updates OR Anti-Virus updates), you will see informational pop-up windows.
Please read and follow the instructions/prompts provided within the windows.

For Windows Updates:

1. If your Windows/Microsoft Updates are out of date, you will see this informational window.

  • Click Go To Link button.

2. In the left pane of the Windows Update window that appears, click Check for updates.

2. The Microsoft Windows Update web page will open in your default browser (you must use Internet Explorer to run the Windows Update utility.)

  • The first time you access the Windows Update site you may see this message box.
  • If you do, click Install button to install the Windows Update component.

  • Then you will see a pormpt to install the Windows Update Software.
  • Click the Install Now button (this may take a few minutes).

3. Once the search for updates is complete, click Install updates button.

3. You will be taken to a Microsofts 'Welcome to Windows Updates' OR 'Welcome to Microsofts Updates' web page.

4. Click Express button. Windows Update software will determine what updates your system needs (this may take a few minutes).

4. A User Account Control dialog box may appear.

  • Type administrative username and password.
  • Click OK button.
  • Required updates will download and install.

5. Click Close button when updates are successfully installed.

5. If this is the first time you are visiting the Windows Update web site, you may get the following screen.

  • If you do, click Download and Install Now to upgrade our Windows components.
  • You will need to Restart your computer and Log Back into Clean Access to finish installing the Windows/Microsoft Updates.

6. If prompted to Restart, do so and you will need to log-in to back into Clean Access again.


7. If your system needs additional requirements to pass CCA, you will see the instructions/prompts window to follow.

6. If when you click on Express you see a list of updates, click on Install Updates button, the list of updates will download and install.

7. When complete, click on Restart Now button.

8. If your system needs additional requirements to pass CCA, you will see the instructions/prompts window to follow.

For Anti-Virus Updates: Vista and XP

If you do not have a Cisco Clean Access approved anti-virus software currently installed,
Linfield provides McAfee 8.5 at no charge for McMinnville on-campus student residents only.

1. If your definition files (or DATs) are out of date, you will see this informational window.

  • Click Update button.

NOTE!!: If your anti-virus software subscription has expired, Linfield offers McAfee VirusScan at no charge for McMinnville on campus student residents only.

  • Click Here to skip to information regarding downloading and installing McAfee VirusScan.

2. A Cisco Clean Access Agent window will appear indicating virus definitions updates have been launched successfully (this may take 2 - 5 mins to appear).

  • Click OK button.

3. You will be take back to the AVDATUpdate informational window

  • Click Next button.

**NOTE: Depending on what Anti-Virus software you have installed, a web page may be opened and you may be prompted for a password before downloads can begin

4. You will see a informational window indicating you have Successfully Logged in to the Network.

  • Click OK button.

If you are still having problems passing Clean Access, check the Network Configuration Guide to see if your network settings are correct for Linfield campus.
