Meet Brett Tolman
Major: Political Science
Hometown: Gresham, Ore.
Q: Why did you choose to come to Linfield?
Brett: When I visited I like that it was a small school with small classes. It gave really good financial aid, which was good. I went and stayed with someone here and I really liked the students that were here. They were really outgoing, forthcoming and nice. Everyone seemed pretty happy and involved in a lot of things, which what I was looking for. There’s a good balance between having fun, and getting work done as well.
Q: How do you feel about the faculty?
Brett: That’s probably one of Linfield’s greatest strengths. They’re all very successful in their own field but they’re also accessible. You can always go talk to any professor, they’re always willing to help and will go that extra step to help you with something. The fact that every professor knows who I am personally is a nice thing rather than going somewhere where there are a couple hundred students in your class. My largest class this semester has 15 students in it. All my professors know who I am and have the best interests in my education.
Q: What kinds of activities have you been involved with at Linfield?
Brett: I am a resident advisor in Hewitt Hall. I do Model United Nations, which is a political group where you learn ho United Nations works and go to conferences and hear diplomats speak and learn about international issues. A lot of schools have the club. I also attend Greenfield, our environmental group on campus.
