Meet Thomas George

How do you feel about the faculty?

Thomas: They make time for you. During some other visits on other colleges it was obvious that class sizes were so big that you didn’t have the opportunity to meet with the professors. Professors here will go out of their way to help you.

If you could take any professor to grab a cup of coffee (tea, smoothie, whatever) – who would you take & why?

Thomas: William Millar, I’ve taken four classes from him already I just like his teaching style he’s really funny his dry humor. His topics of religion are interesting because there’s no right answer so you can talk about it all day every day.

What makes or has made Linfield College a valuable experience for you?

Thomas: Trying new things. Opening my eyes to new things that I haven’t been exposed to where I grew up. I think that’s what makes Linfield fun is there is something new I learn about someone else. I think that’s the most important part of college. You can teach anyone how to crunch numbers on a calculator or learn every bone in the body but you can’t teach everyone how to deal with people and college really forces that.

Do you have any advice for high school seniors about adjusting to college?

Thomas: Be ready for change and understand that things will never be the same and that’s okay.
