Linfield Student

Meet Nick Zimmers

student image Class: 2012

Major: Political Science and Theater

Hometown: Medford, Ore.

Q: What kinds of activities have you been involved with at Linfield?

I played football for the first two weeks then I stopped playing and started filming for the team and doing more technical stuff with game film. I also started theater. I had a part in two plays last fall. When I came back for spring term I did forensics, debate and speech.

Q: How would you describe Linfield College?

Small, but it isn’t the bad kind of small. You are pretty familiar with everyone but there is still a sense that you don’t know everybody and you will always see people you haven’t met or have classes with them. But you have a certain group of people you hang out with, whether they’re in your department or social circle. You will get to see these people much more so than you would at a big school.

Q: How do you like living in the residence halls?

I really like it. I think it has to do with your RA. I have a pretty cool RA. At the beginning of the year he was always there to bring me out to meet people, which was great. But as the year went on he realized his job of getting kids intertwined into Linfield was done and now he doesn’t have to do some of the silly games anymore. Linfield’s resident life is just basically here to get you started then here to keep you on track but in the end it’s what you make of it.

Q: How would you describe Linfield students?

Overall, they are really warm and nice people. It’s the typical Oregon personality where people say hi to you and smile. But if you want your space you can get your space. I think it’s a great mix of both the ability to know people and have friendly smiles and then you can have the days where you don’t really want smiles you can head through and not worry about it.
