Kelly Bird- LINFIELD SPORTS INFORMATION DIRECTOR
Kelly Bird is in his 20th year as sports information director at Linfield. He is responsible for all athletics publicity, including production of media guides, event programs and design and maintenance
of the athletics web site. He is a member of the Linfield Athletics Hall of Fame executive committee and assists with the development of the Linfield Athletics History Room.
Since joining the staff in 1989, Bird has produced 22 nationally award-winning sports brochures. His 1991-92, 1992-93 and 1997-98 winter sports guides and 2004 football guide were judged "Best in the Nation" in the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) contest.
Most recently, he was honored as Linfield's Administrator of the Year for the McMinnville campus in 2007 and received the Northwest Conference SID of the Year award for the 2007-08 academic year.
Bird was a sports-statistics editor for 14 years at The Oregonian newspaper in Portland. He also worked or five years at KUIK radio in Hillsboro as disc jockey, sports reporter and public service director. Bird earned an associate of applied science degree in radio broadcasting technology from Portland Community College in
1983. A graduate of Tigard High School, Bird was a defensive tackle for the Tigers' football team. He served as Tigard's baseball and softball public address announcer for six seasons.
Born in Calgary, Alberta, Bird maintains Canadian citizenship but has lived in the United States for over 30 years. He and his wife, Jolene, live in McMinnville, with their two daughters, Karlee (8) and Jillian (5).
Valerie Larson - LINFIELD SPORTS INFORMATION GRADUATE ASSISTANT
Valerie Larson is in her first year as sports information graduate assistant. She works directly with the tennis, lacrosse, and soccer programs, while assisting with promotions, office organization, research and record-keeping, sponsorships and marketing.
Larson participated in club softball at Washington State University where she competed at shortstop, third base and served as the vice president. As a result, she was able to travel and compete in many different places including Maryland, West Virginia, Washington D.C. and California.
Larson received a bachelor’s degree in 2007 from WSU in sport management with a minor in leadership studies.
A native of Rainier, Wash., Larson graduated in 2002 from Rainier High School where she participated in basketball, softball and track and field.
