After an opening weekend in which she scored three goals and assisted on a fourth, Emily Fellows (Jr., Portland, Ore.) has been recognized as the first Northwest Conference Women’s Soccer Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week of the season. The honor was announced Tuesday following a vote of the league’s sports information directors.
Fellows, the reigning NWC Offensive Player of the Year, scored Linfield’s first two goals of the year to spark a second-half Wildcat rally that resulted in a 3-1 victory over Warner Pacific. She also assisted on the home team’s third goal. The next night against Howard Payne – a landslide 5-0 Linfield victory – she put the ‘Cats on the board early with a 10th-minute goal, the first of four in the opening half.
Linfield’s all-time leading scorer ran her career totals to 54 goals and 14 assists. Fellows has been recognized as the conference player of the year twice (2012, 2010) and as the league’s player of the week 10 times over her career.
AHEAD: Linfield takes on Oregon Tech in an away match Sept. 11. Match time in Klamath Falls is set for 1 p.m.
