For the fourth time in five years, Linfield College was recognized for outstanding work in the area of digital media production by the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators.
NACMA announced the “Best of NACMA” awards Friday at its annual convention in Orlando, Fla. In the category of video display board segments, Linfield received the Bronze Award for Group III, which comprises institutions affiliated with NCAA Divisions II and III, and the NAIA. UMass-Lowell won the Gold Award while Minnesota State-Mankato brought home the Silver Award.
The digital presentation, displayed moments before the Wildcats took the field at each home football game, was a joint collaboration between the Wildcats football program, the sports information office and alumnus Ryan Carlson.
Carlson, a former Wildcats football player from the class of 1999, shot and edited the video for the two-minute piece. Football coach Joseph Smith granted Carlson full behind-the-scenes access. The sports information office contributed branding and logistical support.
Linfield has been recognized three times previously for excellence at NACMA’s annual “Best of NACMA” awards gala, earning a gold award last summer, a silver award in 2010 and the bronze award in 2009.
Carlson, a video production enthusiast, makes creation of the display board video an annual labor of love. Carlson’s countless hours of staging and production time represent a tangible means of showing his unwavering support and devotion to his alma mater and the Wildcats football program.
“It's very exciting to have Linfield be recognized once again by NACMA. This video is a great collaboration involving Linfield student-athletes, the coaching staff, the sports information office, and retired professor Craig Singletary who volunteers his remarkable voice,” said Carlson. “My family and I are excited to continue to support the 'Cats on projects like this in 2013 and beyond. Go 'Cats!”
