The National Fastpitch Coaches Association has recognized three Linfield College softball players with spots on the 2013 Division III All-America team. The NFCA announced the awards Thursday at the annual pre-tournament banquet of the NCAA Championships in Eau Claire, Wis.

Linfield, which won the Northwest Conference title and finished the season with an overall record of 36-8, was one of two schools to have as many as three players honored.

Wildcats senior Karleigh Prestianni (Sr., Grants Pass, Ore.) received her fourth NFCA All-America citation, a feat matched only by record-setting slugger Staci Doucette. Prestianni earned first team All-America designations in 2010, 2012 and 2013, and was a second team selection in 2011.

An anchor at third base, Prestianni hit a conference-best .481 this spring with 60 hits, 58 RBI, 19 doubles, 53 runs scored, two triples, eight home runs and drew 27 walks. She turned in 17 multi-hit games, struck out just six times in 125 at-bats, and started all 44 games. Prestianni received an at-large position on the All-America team.

Earned NFCA All-America honors for the first time were designated player Lisa Yamamoto (Soph., Carson City, Nev.) and outfield Erin Carson (Soph., Camas, Wash.). Starting all 44 games, Yamamoto hit .360 with a NWC-best 13 home runs. Her 54 RBI was second on the team behind Prestianni.

Carson hit .475 with 12 doubles, two triples and one home run. She drove in 32 runs and scored 26 times while playing flawless defense in right field.

The two sophomores filled important voids created by the loss of all-star players to graduation.

The Division III All-America awards were chosen by a committee of NFCA member head coaches, representing the eight regions of NCAA Division III. To be eligible for All-America honors, student-athletes must have been already have received first team NFCA all-region honors.

Since 2006, a total of 15 Linfield players have received All-America acclaim from the NFCA.
