LaBeaume is NWC's field athlete of the week
April 23, 2013

Anna LaBeaume (Jr., Sequim, Wash.) enters this weekend’s Northwest Conference Championships as the defending champion in both the shot put and hammer, as well as the reigning NWC Women’s Field Student-Athlete of the Week after the latter was announced Tuesday following a vote of the league’s sports information directors.

LaBeaume won two events at the Pioneer Invitational – the shot put (43-03.25/12.27m) and the hammer (161-07/49.25m) – and took second in the discus (119-00/37.25m).

Among Northwest Conference competitors this season, the junior ranks first in the hammer, second in the shot put, and fourth in the discus. She is the Linfield record holder in the hammer and ranks in the top five all-time for her two other events.

LaBeame is in good position to qualify for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championship in the hammer, as she boasts the 10th-best toss in the division this year, but needs to add a bit more to her marks in the shot put and discus to earn an invitation to nationals in those events.

This is the third weekly conference award for LaBeaume this season, and the fifth of her career.
