Coming off a conference-clinching weekend, Kramer Lindell (Jr., West Linn, Ore.) became the fifth Wildcat this season to be recognized as the Northwest Conference Baseball Student-Athlete of the Week. He was honored as the top position player of the week on Tuesday, following a vote of the league’s sports information directors.
The junior outfielder supplied perhaps the most clutch hit of the year thus far, smacking a one-out, 13th-inning double to drive in the winning run and lift Linfield to a 2-1 victory over rival George Fox. On the week, Lindell hit .467 (7-for-15) including three doubles for a team-high five RBI. He was also defensively perfect over 13 chances in center field.
Among Northwest Conference leaders, Lindell ranks second in batting average (.443), on-base percentage (.513), slugging percentage (.649), hits (58) and doubles (15). A first team all-NWC pick in 2012, he was named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week on March 19.
This is the first career weekly award for Lindell, who joins teammates Tim Wilson (Jr., Redmond, Wash.), Chris Haddeland (Soph., McMinnville, Ore.), Jake Wylie (Jr., Eagle, Idaho) and Nick Fisher (Jr., Lake Oswego, Ore.) as this season's honorees.
With the sweep against the Bruins, the top-ranked Wildcats clinched the Northwest Conference title and automatic berth into the Division III Baseball Championship. The team’s regional playoff destination will be announced Sunday, May 12.
NEXT: Linfield hits the road for its final NWC series of the year, traveling up the I-5 corridor for a three-game set against Lewis & Clark.
